PORT JERVIS—No one was reported killed or injured in a two-alarm fire at 186 Pike St., in Port Jervis the morning of Oct. 11.
Port Jervis Fire Chief Jim Rohner said the dispatch call came at 5:11 a.m. They were able to put out the fire, the cause of which county investigators were looking into, he said midmorning.
Some 12 to 14 tenants of the building have been accounted for, he said, and were receiving aid from the American Red Cross.
The commercial space at 186 Pike St. was occupied by Flora Laura, a florist and antiques shop that has been in the community for over five years. The shop’s website said it was closed due to the fire.
According to county tax records, the building was owned by Frances and Patrick DeCarolis from East Hills, New York.
The fire also affected the buildings next to it, 190-192 Pike St.
In addition to the six apparatus the Port Jervis Fire Department had on scene, Greenville, Huguenot, Matamoras, and Sparrowbush fire departments responded to the call, Rohner said.
